Imphal, December 21 2023:
A new Cardiac Arrhythmia Clinic was inaugurated at SKY Hospital on Thursday.
Briefing media persons today at the conference hall of SKY Hospital, Dr L Shyamkishore, chairman & chief cardiologist of SKY Hospital, said that an Arrhythmia is a disorder of the heart that affects the rate or rhythm at which the heart beats; basically the way the electricity works.
"Arrhythmia happens when electrical impulses that direct and regulate heartbeats don't function properly", said Dr Shyamkishore while adding that the heart may beat too fast or too slow or the pattern of the heartbeat may be inconsistent.
He continued that sometimes, Arrhythmia may not cause any obvious symptoms and a person may notice symptoms such as a slow or irregular heartbeat or notice pauses between heartbeat.
Dr Shyamkishore asserted that earlier simple medications were given as treatment for Arrhythmia but now EPS+RFA is used to treat some types of cardiac Arrhythmias.
He also mentioned that SKY Hospital had acquired the necessary equipment for EPS+RFA in 2015 and the hospital can now treat Arrhythmia with a success rate of 100 percent.
Dr Shyamkishore further appealed to the public to avail the benefit of the newly opened clinic to treat heart Arrhythmias successfully instead of going to other States for the same treatment.
