Workshop / training programme kicks off

A two days long workshop cum training programme on the theme, "Flood Forecasting and Mitigation in Manipur" kicked off today at the Training Hall of State Water Informatics Centre (SWIC), NHP Block, Water Resources Department in Lamphelpat.
The workshop was organised by State Project Monitoring Unit (SPMU), National Hydrology Project (NHP), Water Resources Department, Government of Manipur in collaboration with FLEWS Manipur Project Team, Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur.
It was graced by NIT Manipur, Director, Prof DVLN Somayajulu; Manipur Remote Sensing Application Centre (MARSAC), Director, O Nodiachand and NIT Manipur, Registrar, Prof Kh Tomba as presidium members.
KN Mohan, Scientist-G, Head, Regional Meteorological Centre, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Guwahati; Sunit Das, Scientist-F, Regional Meteorological Centre; Dr Ng Romeji, FLEWS Manipur Project Focal/Lead Associate professor, Department of Civil Engineering, NTT Manipur and Akoijam Ranjitkumar, District Relief Officer, Relief and Disaster Management Department, Manipur also attended the workshop as resource persons.
The Water Resource Department, Chief Engineer, Remmei Alimmei and Wotrami Marchang, Executive Engineer, Division 2, Water Resource Department & Nodal Officer, FLEWS Manipur also attended the event.
