Imphal, July 08 2022: Board of Secondary Education, MANIPUR (BSEM) on Friday declared the results of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2022 with the overall pass percentage recorded at 76 per cent.

Declaring the results at BSEM Examination Hall, Babupara here, education minister Th Bansanta Kumar said that the overall pass percentage of 76 per cent is the highest in the last ten years except for the 100 per cent result in the HSLC Exam 2021 held under the shadow of Covid-19 pandemic.

The pass percentage of government schools did not reach even 55 per cent before but this time it crossed 60.4 per cent, which is a great achievement.

Even though, no student from the government schools got into top 25 positions, it should not be disheartening, he mentioned.

"Our aim is not only to produce toppers but to educate and ensure maximum number of students appear in exam and pass with high percentage", the minister asserted, while adding that considering the best pass percentage of government schools this year he is sure that in next year, students of government schools will be in top 25 positions.

The minister continued that for bringing out toppers from government schools, steps have been taken up by the government by ensuring necessary infrastructures.

Moreover, shortage of teachers will be resolved through recruitment for filling up posts left vacant following superannuation.

A transfer policy for teachers which is in tune with the present time is also being drafted.

Rationalisation of teachers will be taken up so that students do not face any issues, he assured.

Basanta also informed that under the directive of the chief minister, a Manipur Command and Control Centre for education will be opened to sort out where and how teachers are mentoring the students for which the central government has sanctioned Rs 3 crore.

Education Department has taken up initiative for modernising the education system including starting a training programme for teachers called 'Star Education' under which up to 250 teachers have been trained, he stated.

The minister also noted that the higher pass percentage of girls than the boys in this year's result is a sign for a good future of the society.

He lauded the officials of Board for declaration of the result of class ten even before the CBSE results.

Rahul Laishram, son of Laishram Premkumar Singh & Sanahanbi Devi of Kwakeithel, who is the student of Catholic School, Canchipur topped the exam getting a total mark of 586 out of 600 with letter marks in Man (MM), E, M, Sc, S Sc, Hm.
