TZS celebrates platinum jubilee at Hungpung

Ukhrul, March 07 2025: The Tangkhul Zimik Shang (Sun clan) of Tangkhul community celebrated its momentous Platinum Jubilee celebration today at Hungpung village in Ukhrul district under the theme "Together We Build" .

The celebration began with the hoisting of the Zimik clan flag.

The Unity monolith of the Jubilee was unveiled by Zyrius Arthur followed by the release of balloons to mark the jubilee celebration.

As part of the event, Timothy Zimik, Retd IRS inaugurated the newly constructed Zimik Facilities Centre at Phungrei Awungtang, Hungpung.

Wungkhayap Zimik, vice-president TZS in his keynote address highlighted the motive of forming Tangkhul Zimik clan organisation in 1950 by the elders.

He stated that the clan was formed to stand together for the future, and to lend shoulder when any hardships arise by cooperating with each other.

As a part of remembrance and marking respect to the pioneers of TZS, mementos and souvenirs were presented during the celebration.

It might be mentioned that the Zimik clan is blessed with 19 village headmen, bureaucrats, Government officers and including a parliamentarian, Alfred Arthur Kanngam who is representing outer Manipur.

According to the organising committee reports, over 300 delegates from 35 Tangkhul villages attended the platinum jubilee celebration.

Later as a part of sharing the joy of jubilee celebration, a grand feast was hosted signifying the feeling of oneness and one family.
