Imphal, October 26 2025:
Ex-Chief Minister N Biren has claimed that people have started knowing several works and measures being taken up by BJP with a long-term vision to protect the present as well as future generations.
An Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan-Vidhan Sabha Sammelan was held today at the residence of Konthoujam AC MLA Dr Sapam Ranjan where the exChief Minister, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda, many BJP MLAs and others listened to the 127th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat.
After listening to the Mann Ki Baat, ex-Chief Minister N Biren said that a large number of people have been suffering untold misery on account of the violent crisis which erupted on May 3, 2023 and many families have been enduring the pangs of loss of their loved ones.
Amidst the violent crisis, the Lok Sabha election was held in the State too as demanded by the country's Constitution.
The election was held when the people were confused about what was wrong and what was right.
Nonetheless, the BJP candidate secured more votes as compared to the last Lok Sabha election, Biren said.
A particular political party which shares little concern for the people's welfare or National interest played with the people's emotion and won the election, claimed the ex-Chief Minister.
The particular party promised that they would take up several welfare measures for the IDPs and all the IDPs would be resettled at their homes if their candidate was elected.
Pointing out that it has been almost one year since the candidate became an MP, the ex-Chief Minister asked whether the MP has done anything for the welfare of IDPs.
The MP went to Torbung but turned back and blamed security forces for allegedly preventing him from reaching Torbung.
If he was courageous enough, he should have reached Torbung, Biren said.
He then called upon all concerned to contribute in exploring a concrete solution to the protracted crisis instead of trying to score political mileage.
Had the previous Government fenced Indo-Myanmar border, scrapped FMR, implemented ILPS and checked the entry of illegal immigrants in time, Manipur might not have faced the current critical situation.
Meitei, the majority community, might have faced the situation of becoming a minority, Biren asserted.
Any attempt to put the BJP on the wrong side to correct all these past mistakes and lapses with a vision will not be accepted, he said.
In the midst of the protracted crisis, houses of many BJP MLAs were attacked by using hired individuals with the ulterior motive to score political mileage, Biren said.
Saying that the BJP Government has been working to drive out illegal immigrants, the ex-Chief Minister asserted that illegal immigrants will never be allowed to settle within Manipur.
He said that the Congress party exerted strong pressure on the Centre to impose President's Rule in Manipur and it was there in the Congress party's manifesto of the last Lok Sabha election.
Now, they are saying that a popular Government must be installed in place of the President's Rule, he added.
The Government has been working hard to resettle the IDPs at their original places.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been talking with representatives of Kuki, Naga and Meitei communities to restore normalcy in the State, Biren said.
Saying that the people of Manipur ought not to forget it was the BJP Government which granted ILP to the State, Biren claimed that no party other than BJP will protect Manipur.
As long as there is BJP, the integrity and territorial boundary of Manipur will remain intact, he asserted.
BJP is never opposed to any community.
All the communities support the call for NRC in the State.
Even the Kuki Inpi has expressed their support for the call, he said.
Later, the gathering led by BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda took a collective pledge "Har Ghar Swadeshi" to use products made in the country in line with the objective of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
BJP MLAs Karam Shyam, Heikham Dingo, Konthoujam Ranjan, Kh Ibomcha, Sanasam Premchandra, Sapam Kunjakeswar and Thangjam Arunkumar were also present at the gathering.
