With 'PM may come' doing the round...Kukis start preparing wishlist

The Kukis have started preparing a list of demands pertaining to their own development for submission to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in case he visits Manipur.
Notably, it has been already reported that Narendra Modi is likely to visit Manipur in the month of July.
Well placed sources said that one foremost demand which the Kukis are preparing to be placed before the Prime Minister is development of the road known as German Road which connects Kangpokpi to Churachandpur to the level of National Highway.
Development of two-lane roads from Churachandpur to Mizoram via Tipaimukh, Tipaimukh to Jiribam, Churachandpur to Moreh and Noney to Churachandpur are also in the wishlist being prepared by the Kukis.
With the Parliament session slated to commence from July 21 and the same likely to go on till the first half of August, the Prime Minister is likely to visit Manipur before July 21 .
The Prime Minister may announce the opening of National Highways, extension of SoO agreement and a Rs 10,000 crore package for Manipur.
Incomplete houses built for IDPs may be completed before the Prime Minister's visit and the same may be inaugurated during his visit to the State.
Even if the National Highways cannot be opened before Narendra Modi reaches the State, the highways may be opened within days after his visit to the State, the sources said.
At present, officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs have been working to restore free movement on the National Highways of Manipur.
If the MHA's efforts prove successful, there may be free movement on the National Highways before the Prime Minister's visit.
Since some time back, MHA officials h_ve been talking with leader of SoO groups on reducing the number of designated camps and modification of the SoO ground rules etc.
The two sides are likely to reach an agreement shortly.
Meanwhile, the PR administration has been looking into ongoing projects which are nearing completion.
The PR administration is also considering completing projects which can be completed ahead of Narendra Modi's visit, said the sources.
