Governor reviews security situation, salutes fallen AR men

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has reviewed the prevailing security situation in Manipur during a meeting held at Raj Bhavan this evening.
The meeting convened in response to the ambush on Assam Rifles personnel at Nambol Sabal Leikai yesterday was attended by top civil and security officials including Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel; Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh; GOC-in-C of Eastern Command; GOC of 3 Corps; Commissioner (Home); ADGPs of IGAR (S) and IGAR (E); GOC of 57 Mountain Division, IG of CRPF, DIG (BSF), Secretary to the Governor, Joint Director of SIB Manipur, along with other police and military officers, said a press release issued from Raj Bhavan During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the unfortunate incident in which two soldiers of 33 Assam Rifles made the supreme sacrifice and five others sustained bullet injuries.

The discussion stressed the need for coordinated action among all security agencies to ensure swift identification of the perpetrators.
The meeting resolved that security arrangements must be further strengthened in vulnerable and sensitive areas, including highways, transit routes, and border zones.
Enhanced patrolling, intensified intelligence gathering, and stronger inter-agency coordination were emphasised to prevent such incidents in future.
The Governor underscored that law and order must be maintained with firmness and vigilance across both the valley and hill districts to ensure peace and public safety.
Later, the Governor visited the IGAR (S) Headquarters at Mantripukhri where a military farewell ceremony was held to honour and bid farewell to the two Assam Rifles jawans - Naib Subedar Shyam Gurung and Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap.
At a ceremony held in the presence of Army, Assam Rifles, paramilitary, police and civil officials at the Viplab Tripathy Training Shed of IGAR (South) Headquarters, the Governor led the proceedings to honour the two Assam Rifles jawans by laying wreaths on their mortal remains.
A general salute was also accorded as a mark of honour to the slain soldiers by a contingent of Assam Rifles.
It is reported that the mortal remains have been taken to the Red Shield Division campus at Leimakhong.
