Imphal, July 20 2025:
Makhan-Kanglatongbi Naga Forum (MKNF) has extended its full and unwavering support to the Foothills Naga Coordinating Committee (FNCC)'s ongoing indefinite bandh against what it calls the "Kuki movement
in Naga areas" .
In a press statement issued on Sunday, MKNF said that it endorses the bandh and firmly stands behind the three key demands raised by FNCC, which the forum described as reflecting the
collective voice and rightful concerns of the indigenous Naga people of the land.
MKNF expressed grave concern over critical issues impacting the Naga ancestral territories.
These include the proposed "Tiger Road" project, which it described as a veiled attempt to alter territorial identity; the illegal establishment of Suspension of Operation (SoO) camps by Kuki militants within Naga areas; and rampant poppy cultivation, which the forum said threatens the socio-environmental fabric of indigenous lands.
The forum appealed to the Government of India to immediately dismantle all illegal SoO camps and militant training centres established in Naga ancestral lands.
It also called on the Centre to prevent further encroachments and refrain from renaming of roads or landmarks within Naga territories without public and indigenous consultation.
MKNF further demanded a halt to the establishment of new SoO camps, particularly along the proposed Haflong-Imphal National Highway, describing such moves as strategic provocations that could incite future conflict.
While asserting its commitment to peace, justice and divine guidance, the forum warned that any attempt to manipulate or expand territorial claims under the pretext of peacebuilding would be firmly resisted.
