Imphal, March 20 2025:
Extending a warm welcome to the six Supreme Court Judges who would be visiting the State on March 22 the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has urged the Judges to take up necessary measures so that people displaced by the protracted conflict can go back to their homes.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan, BT Road here today, MPCC president K Meghachandra said that a panel of six Supreme Court Judges led by Justice BR Gavai would be visiting the State on March 22 to interact with IDPs at relief camps, make an assessment of the relief camps and provide assistance to the IDPs.

Remarking that this step of the SC Judges deserves widespread appreciation, Meghachandra expressed keen desire to make the scheduled visit a meaningful one and a harbinger of peace in the State.
He appealed to the panel to visit relief camps of both the communities, listen to the tales of woes of the IDPs and take up concrete measures to address their difficulties.
The MPCC president urged the SC panel to initiate the process of sending back the IDPs to their homes with foolproof security.
The panel of SC Judges may initiate concrete measures so that people who fled from Imphal and other valley areas can come back and at the same time, people driven out from Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Moreh can resettle at their original places, Meghachandra said.
He urged the panel to see that the Government of India takes up tangible steps to bring an end to the protracted crisis through dialogue between the two communities.
People of all sections are now enduring extreme misery as the violent crisis has affected everyone.
Violence and conflict cannot bring any kind of solution, he said.
Peace cannot be imposed at gunpoint.
There should be mutual understanding for peace to prevail, Meghachandra said.
He also called upon all the people of Manipur to support every initiative taken up by the SC Judges to restore peace in Manipur.
After the All India Congress Committee (AICC) declared 2025 as the year of 'Congress party organisation', the party has launched several measures to make it stronger.
As a part of these measures, a joint meeting of the presidents of District Congress Committees of 19 States and Union Territories would be held at Indira Bhavan, New Delhi on March 27 with AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge in the chair, he said.
He said that 14 District Congress Committee presidents of Manipur would take part in the scheduled conference.
A meeting of the 14 District Congress Committee presidents was held today at Congress Bhavan and the meeting deliberated on strengthening the party in Manipur.
With strengthening Congress party across India as the main agenda, AICC would hold another meeting at Ahmedabad, Gujarat on April 8, 2025, Meghachandra said.
The meeting would also deliberate on extension of CWC membership.
The meeting would be attended by Congress presidents and CLP leaders of all States and Union Territories, Congress Chief Ministers and CWC members, he said.
The State's CLP leader as well as the CWC member would attend the meeting.
A meeting of AICC members will be held on April 9 at Ahmedabad and AICC members from Manipur would also attend the meeting, he said.
As a part of the party's initiative to strengthen itself, there will be re-organisation of block level committees, district level committees frontal cells and MPCC office bearers and this re-organisation process will continue till January 26, 2026, Meghachandra said.
