Imphal, November 16 2025:
The 10 incumbent Kuki-Zo MLAs have decided to join if and when a popular Government is formed in place of the existing President's Rule.
Taking due note of the possibility of the return of a popular Government before February 13 next year, the Kuki Zo Council (KZC) held a general conference and deliberated on whether Kuki-Zo MLAs should be a part of the new Government or not.
The KZC's general conference held at Rohika Hotel, Khanapara, Guwahati on November 15, 2025 also discussed the issue of Separate Administration threadbare.
Talking to The Sangai Express, one of the Kuki-Zo MLAs who took part in the general conference said that the conference started with a threadbare discussion on the issue of Separate Administration.
In the course of discussing the issue of Separate Administration, the question of whether the Kuki-Zo MLAs should join the Ministry in case a popular Govt is formed in place of the existing President's Rule was also deliberated at length, the MLA said.
Highlighting the strong demand for a Separate Administration ahead of a popular Govt, many asserted that the Kuki-Zo MLAs should not join any popular Ministry before the Govt of India comes out with an unequivocal statement on the issue, said the MLA.
As opposed to these strong observations to stay away from any popular Ministry, some MLAs countered that it would be more desirable and positive for the Kuki-Zo MLAs to join the popular Ministry.
The conference went on till late into the evening and after threadbare discussion it was agreed that the Kuki-Zo MLAs should join any popular Ministry under the current circumstances, according to the MLA.
The general conference organised by the KZC was attended by representatives of almost all Kuki-Zo organisations including Kuki Inpi Manipur, CoTU, ITLF, Kuki-Zo militants which are under Suspension of Operation agreement as well as those outside the agreement, Kuki volunteers, women societies and other CSOs.
Of the total 10 Kuki-Zo MLAs, seven attended the conference.
