Many join hands in solidarity to mark May 3

The public and many civil society organisations held events marking 3 years of Manipur conflict today with rich tributes paid to martyrs and victims of violence that erupted on May 3, 2023 .
Athoubashinggi Ningshing Khubam Shemgat Lup observed "the 3rd Athoubashinggi ningshing Thouram" at Imphal East's Yumnam Patlou martyrs' memorial - the final resting place of 10 martyred in the Manipur conflict.
The Manipur conflict, since May 3, 2023, has killed over 250 persons, displaced thousands of people, and more than 30 persons are missing.
A large number of people including families of the martyrs paid floral tributes at the memorial at Yumnam Patlou.
During the observance, members of the families of the martyrs called on the Government to restore peace at the earliest.
The prolonged conflict has people suffering across the State, they said.
They urged the Government to crack down on Kuki militants and bring an end to all forms of violence.
They also appealed to the Government to trace the missing persons and facilitate the return of the internally displaced persons staying in relief camps.
The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) observed the third "3rd May Ningshing Numit" under the theme "Bridging divides for a shared future" at JN Manipur Dance Academy.
FOCS acting president, BM Yaima Shah and the gathering observed a 2-minute silence as a mark of respect for the victims of the conflict.
Speaking on the occasion, Kom Tribe Organisation Valley Manipur president M Haopu Kom called on the Government to invite leaders and members of all stakeholders and communities to the negotiating table for bringing peace.
M Haopu Kom also called on the indigenous people to unite and stand for Manipur's integrity.
UMO president M Sorojini Leima, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup general secretary L Memma, Meitei Pangal Council Manipur president Haji Arafat and representatives of many civil bodies attended the observance.
A similar observance was also held at the premises of the Chingamathak Young Learners' Club (CYLC).
The gathering paid floral tributes to the photographs of the victims of the conflict and prayed for their souls to rest in peace.
A meeting was held during the observance and an apex club of all youths club of Singjamei Assembly Constituency named Singjamei Kendra Apunba Club (SKAC) was formed with CYLC president Konjengbam Chingtham as the chairman and Eikhoigi Club, Oinam Thingel representative Oinam Prabin as the convenor.
K Chingkham said the newly formed club will actively take part in all major issues of the State and look after development works in the Constituency.
Arambai Tenggol, Singjamei-Yaiskul Unit too observed the day at the CYLC basketball court.

Arambai Tenggol Unit 18, Meitei Leepun, Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL), and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup marked the day at Lamboikhongnangkhong Multipurpose Hall.
Arambai Tenggol Unit 13 observed the day at Northeastern Youth Development Organisation community hall at Kongpal Kshetri Leikai Iranpham Thongkhong.

Better Yaiskul observed the day under the banner "Mitkap Thokpa Numit" at New Thumbuthong community hall, Brahmapur Laipubam Leikai.
The gathering paid floral tributes to victims of the conflict and reaffirmed resolve to protect Manipur's integrity.
Roadside Vendors' Welfare Association observed the day at Ima Keithel Temporary Market.
During the observance, the women vendors urged the Government to bring peace to Manipur at the earliest and allow IDPs to return to their homes.
Awang Leikinthabi Modem Youth Association, Apunba Nupi Chaokhat Lup and Development Committee too observed the day today.
