Many evacuated to safer places

Rescue operations to evacuate those who are stuck or marooned by the floods in different parts of Imphal East district continued for the third day by security personnel, civil society organizations, student organizations, cultural organizations and private individuals.
Many patients stuck in JNIMS Hospital and other private hospitals located at Porompat and surrounding areas were evacuated by rescue teams using boats, four wheeler vehicles and others.
Students of JNIMS stuck at the hostels were also evacuated.
Rescue operations were also carried out in the surrounding localities of JNIMS Hospital complex.

With the help of rescue teams, JNIMS Hospital authority has reportedly shifted the bloods kept at its blood bank to RIMS blood bank as the blood bank has been flooded.
With the entire hospital complex water-logged, JNIMS Hospital has suspended all operations from today.
People living in the surrounding areas of Porompat TV tower were also evacuated from their respective places to safer areas by rescue teams.
Porompat and surrounding areas have been inundated after the collapse of embankments and overflow of major rivers yesterday.
Rescue operations were also carried out at Khurai Kongpal Kshetri Leikai and Nongmeibung areas and the stranded residents were evacuated by rescue teams to safer areas this afternoon.
Many vehicles including those parked inside the office complex of SP Imphal East have also been submerged in the flood water.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the Control Room, Manipur Fire Service headquarters said that 513 people were evacuated today to safer areas from the flood affected areas of Koirengei, Maiba Khul, Khurai Konsam Leikai, Sanjenthong Officers Colony, New Checkon, Heingang Lai Haraopham, Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai, Khurai Heikrumakhong, JNIMS Hospital, Kongpal AAA Ground, Nongmeibung, Wangkhei Nahakpam Colony, Porompat (near DC Office), Karkinos Cancer Hospital Porompat, Porompat TV Tower, Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Khurai Kongpal, Thambalkhong and Kongpal Mamang Sabal Leikai.
Moreover 51 patients were also evacuated from JNIMS to RIMS.
On the other hand, troops of Indian Army and Assam Rifles continued flood rescue operations across Imphal East and West on Day 2 of Operation Jalrahat-II, rescuing over 500 civilians from severely waterlogged areas such as Wangkhei, Heingang, Lamlong, Khurai, JNIMS and Ahallup, said a press release issued by Hqs IG AR (South) .
Troops also undertook emergency repairs of the breached Iril River boundary wall near Arapti Lamkhai in Lilong to control further flooding.
At JNIMS Hospital, boats were used to ferry stranded patients to safety, it added.
