Bishnupur, May 02 2026:
The mortal remains of the two children killed in a bomb attack in Bishnupur's Tronglaobi nearly a month ago have been laid to rest today.
With hundreds of people paying floral tributes, the remains of the two children were buried at Torbung Lamthabung Lampak, under Kumbi Assembly Constituency.
The two siblings, Oinam Tomthin Meitei (5 years) and Oinam Yaisana Chanu (5 months) were sleeping with their mother when a bomb, suspectedly fired by Kuki militants, exploded in their bedroom on April 7 .
The explosion fatally injured the two children and grievously hurt their mother Oinam ongbi Binita Leima.

The incident occurred while the father of the children, Oinam Mangal Meitei, a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, was away on duty.
Nearly a month after the incident, the family members and locals claimed the remains of the children from RIMS Imphal mortuary today.
The mortal remains were then taken on a procession to their native village at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai with hundreds of people paying their tributes from the roadsides all along the way.
The procession reached Tronglaobi Awang Leikai at 2.50 pm, and rituals were performed at their home.
After the rituals at home, the mortal remains were then taken to Torbung Lamthabung Lampak under Kumbi Assembly Constituency for burial.
Notably, the killing of the two children had triggered widespread protest demonstrations calling for justice across Manipur, and a shutdown was imposed for days recently.
On the day of the incident on April 7, three civilians were killed and several others were injured in CRPF firing on protesters, who had gathered outside their camp near Tronglaobi.
The protesters had accused the Central force of failing to prevent the attack in their area of responsibility.
Family members and many civil bodies including a Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the incident had refused to claim the remains of the children citing the Government's failure to meet their demands.
Even as the case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the family members and civil bodies had urged the agency and Government agencies to swiftly identify and arrest the perpetrators involved in the attack.
They had also urged the Government to crack down on Kuki militants.
While the Government had met with the JAC on two occasions, no understanding was reached regarding the incident.
The NIA is yet to make any breakthrough in their investigation.
