Awareness on Kharif pulses held at Kakching

The All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Kharif Pulses, CAU, Imphal organised aone-day awareness and training cum input distribution programme at Lamjao, Mamang Leikai under Kakching district on Monday.
The programme aimed to promote the cultivation of Kharif pulses, specifically mung and urad bean, and their integration into rice fallow areas to enhance agricultural sustainability and productivity.
During the programme, Dr Manoranjan Bishwal, Jr Plant Breeder and Scientist i/c, AICRP on Kharif pulses, CAU, Imphal gave a comprehensive lecture highlighting the importance of kharif pulses.
The session focussed on their adaptability to rice fallow conditions in Manipur their role in improving soil fertility, and their potential for enhancing farmer's income.
Farmers were also guided on scientific crop management practices, including optimal sowing methods, pest management, and efficient use of inputs.
As part of the programme, essential agricultural tools such as spades, sickles, and battery-operated sprayers were also distributed to 35 farmers from Kakching.
The initiative was taken up to empower farmers with the resources needed for better crop management and productivity.
