Bishnupur, March 20 2025:
Even though healthcare and education are the foundational pillars for the progress and development of a society, Kwakta village located in Bishnupur district, which is only 48 km far away from Imphal, is deprived of such essential amenities.
Chesam Hanif Khan, secretary of AKYVO in a release stated that Kwakta Primary Health Centre which is an important health care institution for over 35,000 residents of Kwakta is understaffed and has caused severe inconvenience to the public and the IDPs of Kwakta Sericulture Farm prefabricated houses.
Even though several requests have been made to the relevant authorities to depute required staff at the PHC by AKYVO, the authorities have turned a deaf ear, stated Hanif.
He continued that even though new transfer and posting orders of staff have been notified by the department, many staff have failed to join and report for duty.
The absence of essential healthcare workers has added more woes to the prevailing condition of the PHC.
The AKYVO therefore urged the staff to immediately join their duty and uplift the healthcare of the people.
The AKYVO also express its deep concern over the authority's failure to man adequate teaching and non-teaching staff at Kwakta High School, which is the only Government High School of Kwaka area and the failure to provide basic infrastructure in the school.
The school, without a regular headmaster, is being run by one office assistant and six teachers.
Questioning how a school can function with only 7 staff, AKYVO has urged the officials of relevant departments to clarify to the people on their failure to depute adequate staff and the lack of required infrastructure.
Therefore AKYVO, representing the people, has appealed to the Education (S) Department to depute the required staff in the interest of the students and to fill the required infrastructure at the earliest.
The AKYVO further warned that if the authorities concerned failed to meet their demands in the coming days, it will launch various forms of agitation with the support of the people and the authorities must bear the consequences.
