Kakching, July 18 2024:
The irate students of Kakching Higher Secondary School have warned to launch intense agitation including class boycott from July 29, 2024 onwards if the issue of shortage of teachers and lack of infrastructure is not addressed by July 27, 2024 .
Addressing media persons during a press meet held at the school today by the students and All Kha-Kanglei Students' Union (AKKSU), Salam Sonia, a student of Class XI Commerce stream expressed dismay that the academic atmosphere of the school has been hampered by shortage of teachers and lack of adequate facilities.
The students are unable to attain education without any hindrances owing to the said factors which is really unfortunate, she remarked.
Speaking at the press meet, AKK.SU general secretary Ksh National Singh said that due to shortage of teachers in comparison to the large number of students in the school, the school is not able to function effectively.
The visit to the school has been carried out as a part of AKKSU's initiative to review the degrading condition of Government schools in the southern part of the State despite the implementation of 'School Fagathansi Mission' aimed at improving the Government schools, he said.
He highlighted that the academic curriculum of the students have been disrupted due to shortage of adequate teachers especially for subjects of Physics, Geography, History, Education, Economics, Manipuri and English.
To address the issues plaguing the school and to ensure that the students study peacefully, Ksh National Singh said that the matter will be brought up to relevant authorities and will support the activities of the students in this regard.
Apart from the above, there is no support staff such as sweeper or gardener in the school, he said.
The condition of the library and laboratory in the school is also not at par with the modem standards, he added.
In view of the above issues, he urged the Government and relevant authorities to address the issues of the school for the welfare of students.
It is worth noting that Aiena Naorem, a student of the school emerged as the topper in Commerce stream in the Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) 2024 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) .
