Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah launched in Kakching

As part of the nationwide campaign against substance abuse, Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah was launched at PR English School, Kakching today with the objective of creating awareness among students and the public on the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The programme was organised by the District Administration Kakching and District Social Welfare Office, Kakching under the theme "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan - Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan".
The event focused on sensitising students about the dangers of substance abuse and encouraging them to contribute towards building a drug-free society.
The programme featured an awareness session, pledge-taking ceremony and poster campaign.
Tennison, Counsellor of Phidam Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), attended the programme as the resource person.
Around 250 students, along with teachers and school staff, participated in the programme.
Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah was virtually inaugurated today by Dr Virendra Kumar, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, who also launched key initiatives including the Personal Dashboard for Nasha Mukt Bharat Mitra (NMM) and a short film on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The initiatives aim to strengthen citizen participation, encourage volunteer engagement and enhance awareness against substance abuse.
The Department of Social Justice & Empowerment is organising Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah from June 17 to 26, 2026 across the country in the lead-up to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed on June 26.The campaign involves coordinated activities by Central Ministries, State Governments, Union Territories, District Administrations, spiritual organisations and Grant-in-Aid institutions to prevent substance abuse and promote healthy lifestyles.
As part of the observance, various offline and online activities will be conducted, including awareness programmes, community initiatives, yoga and meditation sessions in connection with International Day of Yoga on June 21 under the theme "Yoga for Wellness, Say No to Drugs" .
