Imphal, April 07 2025:
The Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association has urged Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to look into the grievances of the 25 home guard personnel from Imphal who were recently posted at Jiribam to assist the State police force.
In a written representation, Y Mangi, president, MHGEWA, has appealed the Governor to post home guards from Jiribam, in the district itself, instead of deploying the personnel from Imphal.
The memorandum informed the Governor that 25 home guard personnel were posted at Jiribam by the Commandant, Home Guard as per an order issued on April 2.It pointed out that the personnel are facing numerous challenges as they have been allegedly deprived of their ration money, TA and salary for 13 months.
Unlike civil police constables whose DA is 39%, the home guards only receive 14% DA, said the memo.
The representation termed it unfair that "weapon-less" home guards have been posted at Jiribam amidst the ongoing conflict.
As a result, MHGEWA has urged the Governor to deploy home guards hailing from Jiribam, in Jiribam district, and to reconsider the order issued by the Commandant, Home Guard (VA).
It further urged Governor Bhalla to plug the shortage of home guards in different districts to ensure that personnel from Imphal are not posted in Jiribam in the future.
