Ukhrul, July 02 2025:
The Affected Private Land Owners' Association (APLOA)-NH 102(A), Package-1 of Phungyar block under Kamjong district has demanded the immediate transfer of Kamjong Deputy Commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter, citing loss of confidence in his ability to resolve land compensation issues.
Speaking to this correspondent, Secretary of APLOA Phaningshang Ningshen alleged that the DC has failed to address the concerns of affected landowners and lacks the capacity to provide a fair resolution to the compensation claims.
He alleged that despite their repeated demands and opposition, the DC on May 7 ordered the dismantling of structures from Koso to Soruving village without prior consultation with the land owners.
"The JAC has approached the DC to re-survey the land involved in the proposed highway construction of NH-102A (SSK-TNP) stretch from Shangshak to Khambi (BRTF/PWD) to include all the missing components for fair compensation", said Ningshen.
Ningshen further expressed dismay over the meeting held on July 1, chaired by the DC reportedly conducted without any formal notification and exclusion of land owners in discussing the rate of compensation.
Stating that the DC's actions have been marked by bias and indifference, Ningshen said that the land affected landowners have no more faith in him.
Calling for intervention from higher authorities, the JAC has urged for the DC;s transfer and for the issues of the affected landowners to be resolved promptly and fairly to facilitate smooth progress on the highway construction.
It might be mentioned, that 10 villages (Koso, Leishi, Leiting, Phanglang, Shakok, Lousing, Phungyar, Khambi, Shangshak and Chungkha ) for package-1 from 0-38.7 km stretch from Shangshak to Khambi village has been demanding to the DC Kamjong for resurveying of the land for rectifications.
