Bishnupur holds multi-stakeholder meet on protection of IDP children

A one-day Multi-Stakeholder Convergence Meeting Cum Declaration of State Action Plan for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Children was held today at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
The meeting focused on the agenda, "ProtectionMechanism and Transitional Support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Children".
The meeting was jointly organised by the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), New Life Foundation (NLF), Manipur, and the District Administration Bishnupur.
The meeting was chaired by MCPCR chairperson Keisham Pradipkumar and attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Toijam Opendro, Superintendent of Police, Bishnupur, Th Shangkar Deba, Chief Medical Officer Dr L Raichandra, Block Development Officers, District Level Officers of the district and representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)/Child-focused NGOs (CNPOs).
During the meeting, the MCPCR chairperson submitted the draft State Action Plan for the Protection of IDP Children to the District Administration, Bishnupur through the Additional Deputy Commissioner.
He added that suggestions and opinions from stakeholders were welcome to further strengthen the action plan.
The deliberations centred on the presentation of achievement reports by the DCPU and other stakeholders; observations from CSOs; presentation of the State Action Plan for Protection of IDP Children; commitment from the DC Bishnupur; and observations and recommendations from MCPCR.
While presenting the achievement reports, the DLOs highlighted the initiatives and efforts of the District Administration for the protection and welfare of the IDP Children taken up through the respective line departments.
These initiatives included the child welfare programmes under different schemes of the District Social Welfare Office; education assistance of ZEO; sanitation facilitation by PHED; medical and health care support from the CMO and the safety and security measures of the children by the District Police.
