Stop Diarrhoea Campaign-2026 launched in Kakching district

The Stop Diarrhoea Campaign-2026 for Kakching district was launched today at the DC Conference Hall during a meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee.
The programme was organised by the District Health Society, Kakching, under the supervision of the District Administration, Kakching.
Deputy Commissioner Angeline Renita R chaired the launch programme.
During the meeting, Dr Th Shyamananda Singh, MO-in-charge of Kakching Khunou and Nodal Officer, Child Health, made a detailed presentation on the objectives of the campaign and the series of intensified activities planned to prevent diarrhoea and reduce deaths caused by dehydration, particularly among children below five years of age.
The two-month-long campaign will focus on strengthening awareness and advocacy on diarrhoea prevention and management through coordination among various departments.
It will also emphasise improving service delivery for diarrhoea treatment, establishing ORS-Zinc comers, and ensuring availability of ORS and Zinc supplements through ASHA workers at households with under-five children.
As part of the campaign, hygiene and sanitation awareness programmes will also be conducted to promote preventive practices among communities.
The main objective of the campaign is to achieve zero diarrhoeal deaths among children by reducing the incidence of diarrhoea and preventing dehydration through timely use of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and Zinc supplementation.
The campaign targets children below five years, their caregivers and mothers for community mobilisation, along with children affected by diarrhoea requiring treatment.
Health officials informed that around 10,700 children under five years of age have been identified as beneficiaries in Kakching district.
Special focus will be given to reaching underserved, vulnerable and marginalised communities.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Angeline Renita R urged all stakeholders to work with dedication and coordination for successful implementation of the campaign across the district.
The programme was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Kakching, Dr Thaodem Rajen Singh, along with District-Level Officers from various departments.
