Meitei Leepun, Manipur Scheduled Caste Foundation (MSCF) and My Manipur have extended their heartfelt gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the landmark decision to fence the entire 1643 km Indo-Myanmar border.
In a statement, Meitei Leepun conveyed its appreciation to the leadership at the Centre and Chief Minister N Biren Singh for their steadfast dedication to the State's integrity and unity.
Meitei Leepun also expressed optimism about implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) along with the removal of "illegal immigrants" from the Scheduled Tribe list.
Welcoming the Union Home Minister's announcement, the Manipur Scheduled Caste Foundation (MSCF) has appealed for its swift execution.
MSCF in a statement asserted that the decision to fence the Indo-Myanmar border and scrap the Free Movement Regime are positive steps towards safeguarding the indigenous population of Manipur.
As a follow up to these encouraging decisions, MSCF has appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to enforce NRC in Manipur and abrogate the SoO pact with Kuki militants.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by Kh Satyabarta, general secretary, My Manipur pointed out that the announcement has come in the wake of Chief Minister N Biren Singh's recent visit to Delhi and proceeded to commend his "unwavering commitment to ensuring the security and sovereignty of our nation" .
Stating that the announcement made by Amit Shah marks a pivotal moment in bolstering the security infrastructure of India's border regions, My Manipur acknowledged the foresight and determination demonstrated by the Government of India in prioritizing the safety and well-being of its citizens.
The decision to fence the border, construct a patrol track, initiative to utilize a hybrid surveillance system (HSS) and the commencement of pilot projects in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur exemplifies the proactive approach of the Government in enhancing surveillance capabilities to curb illegal activities and ensure the integrity of our borders, said My Manipur.
