Legal fraternity extends aid to relief camp

Imphal, February 07 2024:
A delegation of legal fraternity distributed relief materials to the residents of relief camp set up at Nongada Community Health Centre on Wednesday.
A release issued by High Court of Manipur registrar (Judicial) Ojesh Mutum informed that the delegation led by Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul included justices A Bimol Singh, A Guneshwar Sharma and Golmei Gaiphul-shillu Kabui, Bar Council of Manipur chairman S Brajabihari Singh, High Court Bar Association of Manipur president Y Nirmolchand Singh, High Court registrar general Rother Yumkham, additional advocate general, Manipur M Devananda, All Manipur Judicial Officers' Association president Binny Ngangom and Manipur State Legal Services Authority member secretary Alek Muivah along with judicial officers and members of the Bar.
Essential items such as charcoal, charcoal heaters (meiphu), storage boxes, and sports items for the children were provided at the relief camp.
During the visit, the delegation interacted with the residents, emphasised the importance of communication in addressing their grievances and urged the camp residents to share their concerns through the Para Legal Volunteers of the District Legal Services Authority.
In addition to interacting with the inmates, the delegation prevailed upon the Imphal East deputy commissioner Kh Diana Devi and key government officials, including those from the social welfare department, to promptly assess and address the immediate requirements of the residents, ensuring their well-being during these challenging times.
The Chief Justice expressed heartfelt concern for the affected families and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts amongst all the stakeholders to provide timely assistance to those in need.
