Imphal, February 07 2024:
Assam Rifles of 1GAR (South), took proactive steps to alleviate the water crisis plaguing Larong Khunou village in Chandel district.
Situated on a hill feature straddling the boundary of Chandel and Tengnoupal districts, the isolated village had long grappled with a perpetual water shortage, relying on water purchases from bowsers.
As part of Operation Sadbhavna, Assam Rifles initiated the distribution of water supply items such as GI pipes, pump sets, and Syntex tanks to Larong Khunou to help address the community's pressing water needs.

Simultaneously at Haika and S Lhangnom villages in Chandel district, Assam Rifles distributed relief material packages comprising clothing, toiletries and hygiene items to the villagers under the Operation Sadbhavna.
Informing that the distribution signifies a significant yet modest step towards providing essential livelihood amenities to the villagers, aiding them in meeting their daily needs, the PRO said Assam Rifles is committed to fostering positive changes and contributing to the well-being of communities in its area of responsibility, even amidst challenging circumstances.
The villagers and local authorities expressed thanked Assam Rifles for its initiative in enhancing the socio-economic fabric of the village, it added.
