Drone survey of 209 villages completed

Imphal, February 07 2024:
Drone survey of a total of 209 villages in Manipur has been completed under the SVAMITVA scheme implemented by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj to provide Record of Rights to village property owners.
According to the information provided by Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Kapil Moreshwar Patil in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, it is said that the scheme aims to demarcate inhabited (Abadi) land in rural areas through the latest surveying drone-technology and is a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, state revenue departments, Panchayat! Raj Departments and Survey of India.
As on January 24, 2024, MoU for implementation of SVAMITVA Scheme has been signed with 31 States and UTs.
As for Manipur, the MoU was signed on June 8, 2021 .
Accordingly, a total of 3367 villages are targeted for survey by drone out of which 209 villages have been covered.
However, none of the completed villages has been issued property cards.
