Kangpokpi, May 28 2026:
In protest against what it termed as "targeted persecution" of the Kuki-Zo community, Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kuki tribes in Manipur, announced a nationwide rally on May 30 across India.
The call was issued through an official notification following a joint meeting of Kuki Inpi Manipur and various Civil Society Organisations held on May 26 .
The organisation said the rally was primarily being organised to protest the brutal killing of three Kuki-Zo church leaders - Rev V Sitlhou, Rev Kaigoulun, and Pastor Paogoulen - whose deaths, it said, have "deeply shocked and anguished" the entire Kuki-Zo community.
Accusing the authorities of inaction, KIM said those responsible for the killings have yet to be identified and brought to justice despite widespread outrage and repeated appeals from the community.
The apex body further condemned the "continued illegal detention" of fourteen innocent Kuki-Zo civilians allegedly held captive by Naga Civil Society Organisations in Senapati district, describing it as a "grave violation of human rights, constitutional values, and the rule of law" .
KIM stated that the nationwide rally would be conducted under a common banner and unified theme to be circulated officially for adoption by participating organisations across the country.
Calling for mass participation, the organisation appealed to all Kuki-Zo Civil Society Organisations, federating units, student bodies, women's organisations, youth groups, churches, and community leaders to organise coordinated demonstrations peacefully and democratically in their respective districts, towns, and cities.
