Cleanliness drive conducted

Bishnupur, March 25 2025: Members of Lainingthou Lam Ahingba Thougal Lup on Monday conducted a cleanliness drive at the surrounding areas of Lainingthou Lam Ahingba, Bishnupur in connection with the "Heikat Leikat Thouram" which is to be held on March 30 (Sajibu Cheiraoba) to mark the first day of Manipur Lunar month Sajibu.

The members of the Lup also deliberated on the steps and measures to be taken up on that day to ensure safety of the people when visiting the shrine to offer prayers.

Speaking to the media persons, a member of the Lup stated that the annual felicitation ceremony of the position holders of HSLC & COHSEM, the meritorious students of Bishnupur district and Keinou Gram Panchayat, and other State level meritorious award winners will be halted this year due to the present situation of the State.

However, from the following year, the felicitation ceremony will be held annually.

He further continued that the cultural programme and concert will also be halted this year and will only hold traditional Thabal Chongba ceremony from the evening for a limited time by wearing traditional dresses.

He urged the people to not wear red dresses or offer any red flowers to the deity on the day of Heikat Leikat Tamba.

He also appealed to the public to take part in the worship ceremony to be held on Mar 30 so as to make the event a grand success.
