Moirang, April 21 2026 :
Despite the Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed in connection with the death of two children in an attack on April 7, denying any call for a statewide shutdown, normal life in Bishnupur district remained severely affected on the third day of an ongoing shutdown, with widespread road blockades and continued public agitation.
The JAC, formed in connection with the April 7 Tronglaobi bomb attack that claimed the lives of two children and the alleged killing of three civilians during a protest, had clarified through the press on Tuesday that it had not imposed any five-day total shutdown across the State.

However, the situation on the ground reflected otherwise, as key markets across the district remained completely shut.
Major marketplaces including Nambol Keithel, Oinam Keithel, Bishnupur Keithel, Ningthoukhong Keithel, Moirang Lamkhai Keithel, Moirang Keithel, and Kumbi Keithel reported total closure, while interdistrict and inter-village passenger transport services were also suspended, causing inconvenience to the public.
In support of the agitation, large numbers of women and youths from areas such as Kumbi Terakhong, Moirangkhunou, Moirang Thana Leikai, Moirang Keithel, Moirang Lamkhai, and Nachou Panthong took to the streets, staging protests and blocking roads.
The demonstrations, however, remained largely peaceful, with no untoward incidents reported.
Meanwhile, in view of the prevailing situation, government authorities relaxed curfew restrictions in the district from 5 am to 5 pm to allow limited movement of people and essential activities.
