Training programme on increasing fish yield organised

Jiribam, March 12 2024:
As a part of their ongoing effort to increase fish yield in the State, Manipur Seva Samiti, Prem Dhara Charitable Trust and Godrej Agrovet Company hosted a training program at Borobekra and Jakuradhor under Jiribam district today.
Speaking on the occasion, Binanda Khundrakpam, Managing Trustee, Prem Dhara Charitable Trust remarked that with the arrival of trains in Jiribam, it is time to assess which products from the State these trains would export.
Stating that merely rearing fish is not sufficient, he maintained that the fish should be sold after conducting proper market surveys.

Educating the gathering about fish farming, RK Suranjoy, State Distributor, Godrej Agrovet Company stated that 10% of the pond water where the fishes are reared should be changed after every 15 days.
lternatively, the water should be pumped out and drained.
This will ensure adequate supply of oxygen to the fishes and accelerate their growth, he maintained.
Adding that every Manipuri household consumes fish, he pointed out that the chances of incurring a loss in this trade is very low.
Later, the gathering were also educated about PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
