Imphal, April 11 2026:
Horror and fury swept Manipur following a brutal midnight bomb attack in Tronglaobi Awang Leikai, Bishnupur district, that slaughtered two sleeping toddlers and left their mother fighting for life, amid fresh condemnations of ethnic violence and security lapses.
The assault struck around 1 am on April 7 under Moirang Police Station limits, killing five-month-old Oinam Yaisana and her five-year-old brother Oinam Tomthin as they slept.
Their mother, Oinam Ongbi Binita Devi (35), suffered critical injuries.

Tensions escalated when protesters demanding the withdrawal of central forces clashed with CRPF personnel, allegedly resulting in three more civilian deaths and several injuries- incidents decried as exacerbating the tragedy.
Multiple organisations voiced outrage, blaming "Kuki militants", security forces, and Government inaction, while calling for justice and an end to the ethnic strife raging since May 3, 2023 .
KTOV
The Kom Tribe Organisation Valley (KTOV) has expressed profound anguish in a detailed statement released today, strongly denouncing two separate tragedies that claimed multiple innocent lives.
They described the Tronglaobi bomb attack-allegedly perpetrated by suspected armed miscreants- as a horrific act that tragically claimed the lives of two innocent children and left their mother seriously wounded.
KTOV also condemned CRPF actions, stating they "led to the deaths of three innocent civilians and injured many others".
"Such inhuman attacks must not be repeated", the organisation declared, condemning the incidents at the highest level and urging all parties to refrain from indulging in such dastardly acts.
KTOV further extended heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the affected families, emphasizing the need for restraint to prevent further loss in the volatile region.
UADCOC
The Urup Arapti Development Co-ordinating Committee (UADCOC), an apex body representing clubs from Urup and Arapti areas along with Meira Paibis, convened an emergency meeting today attended by local club members and community activists.
The gathering specifically addressed the Tronglaobi bombing, which tragically killed two children and severely injured their mother, as well as the deaths of three civilians during protests calling for the withdrawal of Central Forces.
Participants observed a two-minute silence to honor the deceased and shared in the grief of the bereaved families.
UADCOC asserted that both the State and Central Governments cannot remain silent on these issues, demanding immediate justice for the Tronglaobi victims.
The committee urged the State Government to take swift action to end the ongoing "proxy war" that began on May 3, 2023, and act as a responsible Government by addressing root causes and ensuring security.
Delhi-Manipur CSO Coalition
A coalition of Delhi-based and Manipur-based Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) has issued a joint appeal to the State and Central Governments, demanding immediate action and accountability following a recent bomb attack in Tronglaobi that killed two children.
The appeal was made after a somber candlelight vigil held in Lodhi Garden, Delhi, for the victims.
Led by Ningols United Progressive Initiative (NUPI-Delhi), the groups, including Meitei Heritage Society, TMP Manipur, DeMas, MASAD, MAIYOND, UNIKAAS, Delhi Manipuri Society, Meitei Heritage Welfare Foundation, and Meitei Merchants Alliance-condemned the strike as a grave crime against humanity.
Labeling the bomb attack a "heinous terrorist attack" by Kuki militants targeting civilians, they highlighted its intent to kill women and children.
Criticizing "appeasement, leniency, and half-measures" as failed policies, the groups demanded the State Government assert its authority to maintain public order and protect lives and property.
They called for swift identification, arrest, and prosecution of all perpetrators, alongside dismantling militancy infrastructure to restore security.
The coalition also urged the Central Government to provide full support to defeat terrorism through decisive action, not mere words.
NUPI also appealed for CSO unity to foster peaceful coexistence among Manipur's indigenous peoples, insisting "justice delayed is justice denied" .
