World Health Day 2025 observed

As observed across the globe, the World Health Day was celebrated in the State.
RIMS, Imphal
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, observed World Health Day 2025 today at Jubilee Hall, RIMS, under the global theme "Healthy Beginning, Hopeful Futures" .
On the occasion, Professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS highlighted the institute's weekly health camps in relief areas, its designation as a Centre of Excellence for Rare Diseases, and its declaration as a plastic-free campus since October 2023.Meanwhile, Professor N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS, expressed heartfelt gratitude to media personnel, acknowledging their vital role in raising health awareness.
The observance also featured a mindfulness yoga session conducted by a yoga guru, a debate competition on the topic "Single-use Plastic: Boon or Curse" and a "Voice of the Student" session on the theme "What a Healthy Future Means to Me", Certificates of appreciation were also distributed to the media persons during the observance.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Deputy Director (Admn), Dean (Academics), Principals of the College of Nursing and Dental College, Heads of Departments, the Chief Accounts Officer & Financial Advisor, faculty members, nursing staff, students and teachers from various schools.
SHRI
Shija Hospitals & Research Institute Pvt Ltd observed World Health Day 2025 with a focus on maternal and community health by conducting an awareness program on maternal and newborn care at SHRI auditorium.
Around 100 participants attended the event, including Shija caregivers and ASHA workers from across Imphal.
Notably, the event was streamed live on Facebook to reach a wider audience.
Dr Dipenty L, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist and Dr Kharibam Paikhomba, Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology, SAHS addressed key topics on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a free health camp was conducted at ShijaCity Dental Hospital in Kakching.
The camp offered free consultations in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, ENT, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, and Ophthalmology to more than 350 people.
Additionally, Jan Swasthya Abhiyan, India observed World Health Day by submitting a memorandum listing eight demands to President Droupadi Murmu and the Chief Minister/Govemor and health Minister/Chief Secretary of 18 states including Manipur.
Their demands are to stop privatization in health and health care services, free medicine at public facilities and no tax on life saving medicines, enactment of Right to Health Act, ensuring decentralized health care governance system, universal implementation of Clinical Establishment Act in all states, ensuring food security, safe drinking water, employment, safe environment, women's safety, safe working environment, ensuring occupational health safety in all sectors for workers and inclusion of health in all policies, among others.
