Imphal, March 07 2025:
Due to their cheap prices, medicines acquired through Jan Aushadhi scheme are considered to be less effective.
Quashing this false belief, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba has informed that these medicines are equally effective and beneficial as other company-made medications.
The titular king of Manipur made the statement while inspecting the Jan Aushadhi Outlet at JNIMS Hospital, Porompat on the occasion of the 7th Jan Aushadhi Diwas.
Speaking on the occasion, Leishemba Sanajaoba said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Jan Aushadhi scheme to provide quality medicine and healthcare to economically marginalized people.
The scheme also benefits people who are on long term medication.
Under Jan Aushadhi scheme, more than 15,000 outlets have been established across the country providing cheap medications to the public.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda kicked off the Jan Aushadhi Diwas on March 1 under the theme "Daam Kam-Dawai Uttam" .
With today being the last day of the Diwas, it is being celebrated in different parts of India in an attempt to spread awareness among the people about the quality of the generic medicines available through this scheme, said the MP.
Furthermore, Leishemba Sanajaoba shared that the Indian Government is aiming to set up a total of 25,000 outlets under the Jan Aushadhi scheme.
