Dy CM Nemcha Kipgen urges anti-drug resolve at Chandmari's 75th platinum jubilee celebration

Chandmari village in Kangpokpi district on Tuesday commemorated its 75th Anniversary Platinum Jubilee Celebration (1951-2026) with a series of solemn and celebratory events, underscoring the village's enduring legacy, unity, and steady progress over the decades.
The event, organised by the Chandmari Village Authority and the Platinum Jubilee Committee, witnessed the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, who graced the auspicious occasion as the chief guest, marking a historic milestone in the village's journey.
In a symbolic gesture marking the significance of the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister unveiled the Jubilee Monolith, lending official recognition to the commemorative structures.
Thangkhoklen Kipgen, Chief of Khokheng, unveiled the foundation stone plaque, while Rev J Lunkim dedicated the monolith and plaque.
A deeply rooted cultural highlight followed, as village chiefs, elders, and church leaders ceremonially beat the traditional Dahpi (gong) 75 times�each strike resonating with the spirit of resilience, shared heritage, and the collective memory of Chandmari's 75-year journey.
Addressing the gathering, Nemcha Kipgen extended her heartfelt greetings to the people of Chandmari, stating that she felt honoured to be part of the Platinum Jubilee celebration.
She described the milestone as a powerful reflection of the village's rich legacy, unity, and sustained progress over the past seven and a half decades.
The Deputy Chief Minister, in a firm and unequivocal call to action, urged village chiefs, women's organisations, youth bodies, and every household in Kangpokpi to rise collectively against the growing menace of drugs.
She stressed that the fight cannot be left to the government alone, asserting that community institutions must take the lead in protecting their own future.
Kipgen further underscored that a drug-free Kangpokpi is essential for safeguarding the dignity, security, and future of the coming generations.
She challenged the people to transform their unity into action - through awareness, strict community monitoring, and rmwavering moral leadership.
"Our strength lies in our togetherness.
If we stand united, no force can weaken our society," she asserted, adding that the government would extend full support, but the real victory must come from within the community.
She urged the people to make the Jubilee year a turning point - one that will be remembered not only for celebration, but for a decisive stand in reclaiming a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free society.
