MLA Khashim Vashum urges North East NSS volunteers to be ambassador of peace & harmony

MLA Khashim Vashum has called upon North East NSS volunteers to become ambassadors of peace and harmony while addressing the inaugural function of the North East NSS Mega Youth Festival in Ukhrul.
Over 200 NSS volunteers from Manipur, Assam, Nagaland, and Meghalaya are participating in the event.
The chief guest, MLA Khashim Vashum, along with visiting dignitaries, was warmly received by volunteers in traditional attire, who led a colourful procession to the celebration venue.
MLA Khashim inaugurated the five-day festival, by lighting the ceremonial lamp in the presence of Naorem Praveen Singh, Secretary YAS; Ashish Das, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul; Ningsem Vashum, SP Ukhrul; D Carthigueane' Regional Director NSS Guwahati; Dr Y Suraj Director MOBC; Dr Veto, Director of YAS and Dr Ringkahao Horam, principal of Pettigrew college.
In his speech, the MLA highlighted the State and Central Governments' effort to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
He encouraged NSS volunteers to spread the message of love and peace by celebrating the region's diverse culture and heritage with deeper understanding.
"Let this celebration unite us culturally and emotionally, while helping us foster peace and further development in the North East region," he added.
D Carthigueane, Regional Director NSS Guwahati stressed that the festival aims to provide a platform for cultural exchange, interaction, and fostering unity among the North Eastern states.
He noted that such gatherings help youth learn from one another and strengthen the spirit of national integration.
He also urged the NSS volunteers to register in "My Bharat portal" to make them eligible to participate in any national festival in the coming future.
The celebration featured a vibrant cultural showcase, including Assam's traditional Sahitya dance, Bagurumba dance by Dibrugarh University, as well as Manipuri Dance and folk dances of Meghalaya and Nagaland.
Altogether, six contingents from Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya including three teams from Manipur are participating in the five-day programme.
The event is organised by the State Cell NSS, Manipur under the aegis of Regional Directorate NSS Guwahati, Assam, and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sport Government of India, New Delhi.
