Kangpokpi, May 19 2026:
Liangmai Baptist Churches Association (LBCA) Manipur has strongly condemned the brutal killing of three church leaders and appealed for the immediate and safe release of all remaining hostages amid the ongoing crisis in the State.
In a press release, the association denounced the killing of Rev Dr Vumthang Sitlhou, Rev Kaigoulun Lhouvum and Pastor Paogoulun Sitlhou, describing the incident as "hideous sinful act" that strikes at the values of humanity, peace and religious freedom.
The association stated that no grievance can justify the targeting of spiritual leaders who serve society through faith, compassion and guidance.
It further stated that such acts create fear, division and suffering not only for the victims' families and congregations but also for society as a whole.
LBCA urged the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure protection for all citizens.
While expressing relief over reports that some hostages from both sides had been released, the association conveyed concern over the whereabouts of several persons who are still reportedly missing.
Appealing to the abductors, the association called for the immediate and unconditional release of all remaining hostages, stating that every human life holds equal value and dignity irrespective of community, nationality or background.
