Imphal, April 07 2026:
The Samajwadi Party (SP), Manipur, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Ram Vilas Manipur State, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and others have strongly condemned the bomb attack at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai which claimed the lives of two children and left their mother with grievous injuries in the wee hours of April 7.Speaking in this connection at his residence in Konthoujam today, Konthoujam Bishorjit, State president, SP, Manipur demanded the resignation of State legislators if they are incapable of governing the' State.
Extending heartfelt condolences, he said today's incident is proof of the Government's inability to safeguard its citizens.
The State Government should be held accountable for the bomb attack and any such incidents which may occur in the future.
The administration should ask itself why the Kuki militants are able to launch attacks on Meiteis any time they please, he said.
Questioning how long the Government will put up with such attacks, he also asked if it is waiting for the death toll to reach a certain number.
He further questioned how "Kuki narco terrorists" were able to carry out the bomb attack without being detected in an area where a large number of security forces have been deployed.
Peace and normalcy will not return in Manipur until "Kuki narco terrorists" have been completely uprooted, he maintained.
The Central Forces who were deployed to protect the public have turned to fire their guns upon civilians, killing them and injuring scores of them, he added.
Konthoujam Bishorjit has appealed the State Government to rein in Kuki militants or resign otherwise.
Separately, LJP Ram Vilas Manipur State has strongly condemned the killing of the young siblings in a bomb attack at Tronglaobi today and subsequent gunning down of civilian protesters by Central Reserve Police Force personnel.
Speaking to the media at their party office in Keishampat today, State president Khoirom Deepu said the instalment of a new Government in Manipur had filled people with hope for restoration of peace and a return to normal life.
In stark contrast, people are now fearful and unsafe in their own homes.
How can peace return under such circumstances, he asked.
He assured that the party will mount pressure on the Central Government and submit a memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to arrest and award befitting punishment to all armed Kuki militants involved in the Tronglaobi killings.
The youth wing of the party has been actively engaged in providing assistance to those injured in the firing by CRPF personnel and admitted to Bishnupur District Hospital.
Similar help will also be given to all injured persons admitted in hospitals across Imphal, he added.
Meanwhile, general secretary Wangkheirakpam Shreeman asserted that peace will not return in the State when only one side is involved in pursuing it.
The lack of capable leadership is behind the prolonged suffering of the Manipur public, he opined.
At this juncture, there is a need to go beyond party lines to save the State of Manipur and its people, said Shreeman.
Joining the chorus of condemnations for the dastardly bomb attack, MPCC member and intending candidate from Singjamei AC in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, Oinam Romen, has called upon the State Government to take strict action against the Kuki militants responsible for the Tronglaobi killings.
Speaking to the media at his residence in Singjamei today, Oinam Romen extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Questioning how the BJP at the Centre and State views the State of Manipur, he warned that a massive public movement might emerge from this tragedy if the culprits are not arrested and punished at the earliest.
Despite claims that peace has returned in Manipur, incidents that are completely opposite of this claim continue to plague the people of the State.
Many people lost their lives during the previous administration.
Then President's Rule was imposed in Manipur and subsequently a new Government was put in place.
Despite hopes for peace with the appointment of a new Chief Minister, disturbing incidents continue to hound the citizens of Manipur day in and day out, which is unfortunate.
Gun fire also continues to upend lives of people in Ukhrul.
Under such grave circumstances, how can peace and normalcy make a comeback, he asked.
Commenting on the census, he claimed that the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur has undertaken various activities in contravention of the Chief Minister's statement about the conduct of the census exercise.
In this regard, he questioned if the Chief Minister is not in touch with the DC or if it has been announced that the DC will take over the governance of Churachandpur district.
Retired IAS officer and reported intending candidate from Sagolband AC Mangsatabam Harekrishna has also joined in condemning the Tronglaobi bomb attack.
Addressing the media at his residence in Sagolband Meino Leirak, Harekrishna demanded swift arrest of the culprits and appropriate punishment as per the law.
He also wished a speedy recovery to the mother wounded in the attack.
Lastly, Socio Economic Development (SED) Foundation president Laitonjam Jayananda has threatened to launch an intense mass movement if the Government fails to deliver justice in this case.
Speaking to the media at SED office located at Khurai Konsam Leikai today, Jayananda strongly condemned the tragic incident and demanded appropriate action against the perpetrators.
The Government should be aware of the public sentiment and initiate appropriate steps.
He maintained that SED will continue its democratic agitation until justice is served.
