IPSA wary as Manipur stare at relaxation

Imphal, May 03 2020: With the lockdown imposed to contain the novel coronavirus likely to relax on certain activities, International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) opined that unwise move at this crucial time may lead to the opening of pandora box in the State.

In this regard, a press release issued by IPSA said that though the State has no more COVID-19 cases after the recovery of the two individuals, the war against the disease is still on as no vaccine has been produced so far.

Considering the hardships being faced by common men and the impact lockdown has on the State economy, relaxation is important but it should be done with the utmost care and through threadbare discussion, IPSA suggested.

Completely lifting the lockdown would be hazardous, especially before the COVID vaccine is produced, IPSA said and urged the State Government to work closely with health professionals and other experts in chalking out the relaxation norms.

Maintaining that the association is against unnecessary gatherings, IPSA said that people here are not much aware of the prevailing situation in Myanmar and some neighbouring States, which have positive cases.

Assam is reeling under pressure due to the disease and thus the State should not take off the guards even if Manipur has been classified as a green zone, the press release continued.

IPSA also lauded the State Government for bringing back State natives stranded outside the State.

IPSA in collaboration with the State will start distributing agricultural seeds and saplings freely to the farmers of the State as a motivation, it continued.

Lauding the CSOs, individuals, social workers who came out to help the vulnerable households and destitute during the lockdown, IPSA urged all to maintain physical distancing and follow experts guideline to reduce the COVID-19 threat in the State.
