Over 24 thousand detained so far

Imphal, May 03 2020:
State police have detained as many as 24,436 lockdown violators and imposed a fine of more than Rs 23 lakh since March 25 till today.
24,436 lockdown violators were detained along with 17,351 vehicles since March 25 upto May 3 (today) and a fine of Rs 23,04,690 was imposed, said data provided by the police.
Today, State police detained 1,007 lockdown violators, who were not wearing face masks and flouting social/physical distancing norms and were freed after a fine of Rs 97,970 .
753 vehicles were also detained, said police.
Maximum number of lockdown violators were detained at Thoubal district with the district police detaining as many as 7,705 persons since March 25 till today.
Imphal West reported detention of as many as 5,251 lockdown violators followed by Bishnupur district - 4,274 .
Tengnoupal district reported only 40 cases of lockdown violation while Noney reported 79 cases.
Kamjong and Pherzawl district reported zero cases of lockdown violation since March 25.Meanwhile, one person from Imphal West was arrested for "uploading communally inciting messages on social media", said police data.
