Twelve-year-old climate and environmental activist Licypriya Kangujam has designed and developed a low-cost solar lamp from plastic bottles.

The lamp requires simple electronic components like 4 Volt LED strip, 6 Volt solar panel, 1 voltage regulator, 1 charging module, 2 lithium ion batteries (18650), Ion 4007 diode, PVC pipe & sheets.
The lamp can be used as a rechargeable solar study lamp or for charging mobile phones.

She continued that plastic pollution chokes marine wildlife, damages soil & poisons groundwater, and can cause serious health impacts.
She asserted that plastic pollution can be reduced if people use simple science and recycle or upcycle plastic bottles.
"Setting a global example in the fight against plastic pollution, the Government of India had announced a ban on manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of identified single-use plastic items all across the country from July 1, 2022", she added.
