Additional SP Kakching highlights importance of timely reporting of POCSO related cases

Additional SP Kakching, A Romendro appealed to all to timely report cases related to Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 to the Police to award befitting punishment to the perpetrators and ensure speedy justice to the victims.
He made the above appeal while speaking at the one day awareness programme on 'POCSO Act 2012 and Child Marriage' held today at the complex of Health for All organisation (HFAO), Thambal Children Home for Girls, Arong Khunou in Kakching district.
The awareness programme was jointly organised by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Department of Social Welfare, Thoubal and Kakching district and HFAO.

The Additional SP Kakching further appealed to all to refrain from delaying in reporting such cases to the Police while trying to solve the cases through dialogues among the local organizations or through financial settlements.
He maintained that POCSO Act related cases should be reported at the right time for a swift investigation and trial process so as to award stringent punishments as per law to the culprits involved to prevent the recurrence of these crimes.
The programme was also graced by Konjengbam Anita, District Child Protection Officer (DCPU) Kakching; Premkumar Heigrujam, chief functionary HFAO; Reena Chanu Moirangthem; Legal cum Probation Officer, DCPU Kakching; K Kiran, Secretary SMART Universal Academy, Sekmaijin Khunou; Angelina Mairembam, social worker and Dr E Amitkumar, proprietor Lamyanba Enterprises as the presidium members.
Reena Chanu Moirangthem spoke at length on the provisions of POCSO Act 2012 and the impacts of child marriage to raise awareness among the attendees.
As a part of the programme, the annual calendar of HFAO was released and stationery items were distributed to the inmates of the Thambal Children Home for Girls and blankets to the inmates of Old Age Home as gifts for the new year.
