Mass missed call campaign ends with 8,70,350 calls

The mass missed call campaign launched by Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union on the theme 'Campaign for better Manipur with equal status' for inclusion of Meetei/ Meitei in the ST list of the Indian constitution since November 20 concluded on Saturday with 8,70,350 missed calls.
In a release, Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union pointed out that the campaign set target for five lakhs but reached 8,70,350 due to the overwhelming support of 24 CSOs, local clubs, 165 Meira Paibi lup, government employees and women vendors among others.
World Meetei Council, Kangleipak Kanba Lup, Global Meetei Diaspora took crucial roles in the campaign.
Moreover, Meetei CSOs, students and Meetei people/diaspora in different areas including Tripura and Assam also contributed in making the campaign a success.
In all, 37 social media platforms and celebrities of Manipur also extended support to the campaign, which was earlier planned for conclusion on December 20 but had to be extended till December 30 because of public demand, the union maintained, while lauding all those who extended physical and monetary aid in support of the campaign.
Stressing the need to continue to launch movement for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in ST list, the release urged the people to extend support in the movements launched by the union.
