Missed call campaign ends

The Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union has extended its gratitude to all the people who gave overwhelming support to the mass missed call .
The campaign which began on November 20 in pursuance of the demand for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the Scheduled Tribe list of the Constitution concluded today.
The union, in a statement, said that the missed call campaign was a huge success with over 8,70,350 endorsing the initiative .
The campaign was supposed to end on December 20 but extended till today as per the wishes of the people, it added.
Saying that they initially set a target of getting 5,00,000 missed calls but got support from over 8,00,000 people instead, the union thanked all the people, students, civil society organisations, local clubs, meira paibi lups, Government employees, street vendors, labourers, social media influencers, celebrities and Meeteis living in other States who made the campaign a big success.
The union further said that World Meetei Council, Kangleipak Kanba Lup and Global Meetei Diaspora also played a key role in spreading the message of the missed call campaign.
Continuing that they also got moral and financial support from numerous people, the union expressed strong belief that they will get similar support in taking forward the movement to enlist Meetei/Meitei in the ST list.
