Except for one polling station, re-poll held in seven polling stations of Sadar Hills and Chandel today in the first phase ADC elections was by and large peaceful.
Meanwhile, State Govt has requisitioned both Army and Assam Rifles to ensure smooth and peaceful polling in the second phase of ADC elections scheduled for June 2 .
Even as most polling stations recorded high voter turn out, not a single voter came out at 22/4 Island UJB School under Sadar Hills ADC.
In stark contrast, 16/1 Molkon UJB recorded 98.6 per cent voting, 16/2 Molkon UJB recorded 93.2 per cent, 16/4 Thangnoi UJB recorded 99.2 per cent, 23/2 Waithou Chiru LP School recorded 98.5 per cent and 24/4 Salam Vaiphei UJB recorded 96.5 per cent.
5/5 Kharam Khullen Primary School, the lone polling station in Chandel which went to re-poll today recorded 98 per cent polling.
In addition to police and other para-military forces arranged for the second phase of ADC elections scheduled to be held on June 2 in Senapati, Ukhrul and Tamenglong, the State has asked Army and Assam Rifles to assist in the security arrangement.
While 36 ADC Members have been elected unopposed, 184 candidates are contesting for 20 seats in Tamenglong ADC, four in Ukhrul and six seats in Senapati for the remaining 30 seats.
Notably, not a single candidate filed their nominations in six ADC seats.
