Imphal, May 29 2010:
Five persons including a woman were killed in a road accident in Jiribam sub-division bordering Assam's Cachar district today, reports received here said.
Police said the incident occurred when a Shaktiman truck (MN01-2654) fully loaded with rice and other food grains, in which they were travelling turned turtle after it hit an electric post at Babupara area of Jiribam town around 3.30 pm today.
"The Shaktiman truck was on its way to deliver the foodgrains in our village," a resident of Tousem sub-divisional headquarter, about 250 km north-west of Imphal, in Tamenglong district, said when contacted over telephone tonight.

Though identities of the victims are yet to be established, local sources claimed that four of them were from New Mandeu and Aben villages of Tousem sub-division.
The woman victim is believed to be from New Mandeu, sources added.
