Magulong bodies demand resumption of road construction work

The Magulong Na Students' Union (MNSU) and Magulong Village Council demanded the resumption of road construction work connecting the village to Katang.
A joint press release by the two organisations said that the road construction project taken up under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was started from March 13, 2019 and was set to be completed by September 12, 2020 however it has not been completed till date.
Owing to the long pending incomplete work of this road which plays a very important role and is the only lifeline of the village populace, the two organisations highlighted that the villagers are facing immense difficulties and expressed serious concern over the lackadaisical attitude of the work agency.
The two bodies warned that if the work is not resumed by January 2024, the contractors and work agency concerned will be held responsible for any untoward incidents that may occur in the future.
The two organisations said that the road is in a dilapidated and sorry state for long and the work agency has so far executed only four culverts out of 12 that is to be constructed, and two retaining walls out of eight to be constructed, and the road surface work executed so far are sub-standard where even four-by-four wheelers can hardly ply over.
This project requires immense attention by the work-charge team to ensure quality of work and its completion on time, said the release.
Citing this ground reality, the Magulong bodies expressed their dissatisfaction and called for immediate attention of the authorities concerned.
