MSF calls for revival of 'Nishabandh' to tackle drug abuse

The Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has called for the revival of the women's organization 'Nishabandh' to combat drug abuse in Manipur.
The call was made during the 'Eikhoi Mayai Kaba Drug Thadoklashi' campaign at P Namjoklung High School in Imphal East district.
The poster stickers' campaign was led by MSF vice president Ayekpam Jimba Meitei, along with assistant publicity secretary Maibam Prakash, assistant games & sports secretary Thounaojam Alex Meitei and district committee president Waikhom Sena.
Speaking to the media today, Ayekpam Jimba Meitei highlighted MSF's efforts to combat drug abuse in the region, including seminars, competitions, and awareness programmes.
He shared that the organisation is working closely with school students and teachers to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
He emphasized the need for collective action to eradicate drug abuse, citing the persistence of the problem despite security forces' efforts.
"In the past, a women's organization called 'Nishabandh' was established in Manipur to combat drug abuse and related issues", said Jimba while calling for the revival of this organisation in the 21st century, highlighting its importance in fighting drug abuse.
Jimba also informed that MSF has submitted a memorandum urging BOSEM, COHSEM, and CBSE-affiliated educational institutions to introduce a 'Drug-Free Commitment Affidavit' for students in grades 8-12.MSF will continue its campaign across Manipur, seeking support from schools, students, local clubs, and the public to promote a drug-free environment.
