L Sanoi College celebrates Diamond Jubilee, launches welfare funds

L Sanoi College, Nambol, celebrated its Diamond Jubilee on Friday, marking 60 years of academic excellence and service to society, at the College Multipurpose Hall.
The celebration was attended by former Minister and' Nambol MLA Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh as the chief guest, Director of University and Higher Education L Radhakanta Singh as the guest of honour, and Principal of the college.
Prof W Jyotirmoy Singh, along with faculty members, alumni, students and well-wishers.
The programme began with floral tributes to the founding members of the institution in recognition of their contributions to establishing the college.
A Diamond Jubilee souvenir was also released on the occasion.
Former principals, teaching and non-teaching staff were honoured for their dedicated service, while university toppers and outstanding students were felicitated with certificates and gifts in recognition of their academic achievements.
To strengthen the institution and promote the welfare of its stakeholders, the college launched three new corpus funds - the Nambol L Sanoi College Laboratory Corpus Fund, Students' Welfare Corpus Fund, and Nambol L Sanoi College MTS Welfare Corpus Fund.
Under the Students' Freeship Scheme, five students, including orphans, those from single-parent families and students with outstanding achievements, were presented with Students' Freeship Awards.
Incentive Awards were also presented to students who brought laurels to the college in academics and various sporting events.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Th Basanta Kumar Singh said that students are the future of society and stressed the importance of nurturing values alongside education.
He urged students to develop love for the motherland, good character, discipline and a strong work ethic, stating that hard work and perseverance are the keys to success.
He also highlighted the importance of leadership, teamwork and meaningful interaction with students, adding that constructive questions and discussions help generate new ideas and contribute to personal as well as societal development.
