Imphal, April 16 2026:
The Communist Party of India (CPI), Konthoujam Local Council today expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Central and State Governments' handling of the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
At a meeting held at the CPI Konthoujam Local office in Khabi, members said the State's situation has deteriorated severely since April 7, 2026.They condemned the recent bomb attack at Tronglaobi village that killed two toddlers and the alleged firing by CRPF personnel on protesters that claimed three more lives.
The CPI unit criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their silence, stating that the Centre has failed to address the crisis.
It also accused Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand of neglecting the people amid the violence.
Alleging that the 49 MLAs have failed to protect the public, the party demanded they step down on moral grounds.
It also questioned the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with Kuki militant groups, saying it may be obstructing a permanent solution.
Warning of a 'demographic crisis' from illegal immigration, the CPI urged the Government to identify and deport illegal immigrants before conducting census operations.
The party further demanded immediate restoration of mobile internet services, noting the suspension has crippled education, business, and daily life.
It questioned why elected representatives remain silent while students, traders, and citizens suffer.
The CPI Konthoujam Council urged both the Central and State Governments to acknowledge the gravity of the situation and take urgent steps to restore peace, warning that public patience is running out.
