Children's Day celebrated with joy and colour across State

Children's Day was celebrated today across the State with vibrant programmes, heartfelt tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and activities designed to promote children's rights and welfare.
RVS & REEDO
Eramdam Ningol Shanglen Open Shelter for Girls, Wangbal Mayai Leikai, run by the Rural Voluntary Services (RVS), Thoubal, and REEDO-Nawa Shanglen Children Home for Boys, Wangbal Pt-1, jointly organised Children Day celebration today at RVS Campus.
The celebration was graced by Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Government of Manipur chairperson K Pradipkumar; RVS Wangbal secretary Babita Sapam; CWC Thoubal chairperson L Romen Meitei; DCPU Thoubal DCPO Robindro Salam as presidium members.
The event featured colourful cultural shows, lively performances, and presentations by the children, highlighting their talents and aspirations.
Gifts were also distributed to the children of the homes, bringing smiles and joy to the children.
Speaking at the occasion, RVS Wangbal secretary Babita Salam reminded that Children's Day is celebrated in honour of India's first Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru, who championed children's rights and well-being.
She emphasised that the event aimed to empower children to understand their rights to education and protection while showcasing the care and development efforts undertaken for their well-being.
WIGC Thoubal
At the Children Home for Girls run by the Women's Income Generation Centre (WIGC), Thoubal, proprietor of Ronita Enterprises, Heigrujam Ronita; WIGC executive member, Mutum Rornila; Mother of the Home, Athokpam Abena; and staff members of the home offered floral tributes to the portrait of Jawahar Lal Nehru.
As part of the programme gifts were also distributed to the children residing at the home.
RUDA Academy
RUDA Academy, Thoubal also celebrated its 6th Children's Day at the school campus, honouring Jawaharlal Nehru's legacy of advocating for children's rights and education.
The celebration was graced by DM College of Teachers's Education, principal Dr Konika Khuraijam as chief guest; RUDA Academy Thoubal, principal Elangbam Romio as functional president; and teacher in-charge Soubam Monalisha Devi as guest of honour.
As part of the programme, dignitaries led floral tributes to Nehru's portrait.
Students of the academy also presented vibrant cultural performances that enthralled the gathering.
Assam Rifles
In a heartwarming celebration of Children's Day, vibrant programmes were organised across multiple districts of Manipur, bringing together over students, teachers, villagers and Assam Rifles personnel in a spirited display of unity, creativity and youthful energy.
In Ukhrul, Assam Rifles Public School, Shangshak came alive with a cultural programme that showcased traditional dances, patriotic songs, skits and poetry recitations by 92 students and 9 teachers.
The performances reflected both heritage and contemporary themes, earning appreciation from parents, teachers and troops.
Sweets and small gifts were distributed to all participating children, adding warmth to the occasion.
Across Chandel and Thoubal Districts, Assam Rifles conducted spirited celebrations in Sajik Tampak, Jamkholin Memorial Academy and the border villages of Sehlon, Aibol Joupi, Kovang, Old Samtal and New Samtal.
A total of 167 villagers joined the festivities, which included lively games, drawing contests and motivational interactions.

Phundrei Village, students from neighbouring areas participated in sports competitions and cultural performances that ignited creativity and teamwork.
Assam Rifles also celebrated Children's Day at Tamenglong and Noney districts of Manipur.
The event was organised with great enthusiasm across various schools in Area of Responsibility that includes Kendriya Vidyalaya School, Nungnang Heritage School, and Liangmai School, engaging a total of 620 students in a vibrant series of cultural and sporting activities.
The celebrations included an energetic tug of war, lively folk dances, competitive badminton matches, and engaging sessions of folk tales depicting cultural heritage and moral values.
Students also showcased their talent through singing performances, adding colour and joy to the event.
Tengnoupal
The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Tengnoupal organised a one-day awareness programme cum Children's Day celebration at the DC Conference Hall today.
The programme chaired by SP Tengnoupal, Rahul Gupta, was conducted by Damgam Khaling and attended by officials, community representatives, and children.
Although DCPO Devavrata Sharma could not be present, his welcome message and keynote address were shared, stressing the importance of child protection and the shared responsibility of the community.
Michael Thomas, chairperson CWC, and SDO Md Nazmul Huda also spoke on child rights and safety.
As part of the programme, gifts were distributed to internally displaced children, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the significance of Children's Day.
Chandel
St Joseph's High School, Chandel, celebrated its 27th Children's Day cum Parents' Day on Friday with a special interactive session featuring Olympian and Padma Shri awardee N Kunjarani Devi.
The event, hailed as a first of its kind in the district, was held on the school premises in the presence of students, teachers, and parents.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Padma Shri Kunjarani Devi lauded the efforts of everyone involved in organising the celebration.
She highlighted the pivotal role of parents and teachers in shaping the lives and futures of children.
Reflecting on her own journey, the Olympian noted that her success was largely due to the support of her parents and her commitment to hard work and discipline.
She also stressed the importance of maintaining good health and discipline to excel in any field.
Welcoming the gathering, Principal Th Joseph shared the school's journey since its establishment in 1998 and recognition by the government in 2013.He also noted the school's consistent performance in HSLC examinations.
The celebration featured lively performances by students and contributions from parents and teachers.
A Taekwondo demonstration and a Science Exhibition added colour to the event, with visitors gaining insight into the world of science through student projects.
Prizes for annual sports events and literary competitions were distributed, recognising outstanding achievements.
The occasion also served as Parents' Day, honouring the crucial support parents provide to their children and the school community.
