Imphal, April 13 2025:
As the ongoing crisis in the state is set to complete two years, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has criticised the central government for its continued inaction and lack of meaningful intervention to resolve the situation.
COCOMI convenor Khuraijam Athouba flagged the concern during a joint meeting of civil society organisations, local clubs, Meira Paibi groups, and community elders held on Sunday at Khumbong community hall.
The meeting was jointly organised by COCOMI and Imphal West Sporting Club (IWSC), Khumbong as part of the preparation for the upcoming People's Convention on Manipur Crisis, scheduled for May 3 at Khuman Lampak.

Athouba said the people's convention is being held out of necessity, citing the central government's failure to initiate notable efforts to bring about a resolution.
"Despite multiple statements by the Union home minister, there is no semblance of normalcy," he said, pointing out that the national highways remain inaccessible, farmers are unable to access their farmlands in the foothills, and the public continue to live under constant uncertainty.
In the lead-up to the convention, COCOMI plans to launch a series of campaign meetings to raise awareness about the crisis, highlight how the state's indigenous people are being deprived of their fundamental rights, and to understand public sentiment in planning a way forward.
Other speakers at the meeting included COCOMI finance convenor Y Surjitkumar, Loya Lup president Y Tiken, IWSC president Dr Kolom Rabi, and Panthoibi Chanura Meira Paibi Lup president Guni Leima.
